(opens in a new tab)A new national initiative, Culture & Climate Cymru, has launched to support cultural organisations across Wales in responding to the climate and nature emergencies.

Bringing together resources, training, events and a shared network, the platform aims to help museums, galleries, theatres, archives and creative practitioners take meaningful, practical steps towards sustainability.
The initiative builds on research commissioned by the Welsh Government, which found strong motivation across the cultural sector to take climate action. Many organisations are already making changes — from reducing energy use in buildings to rethinking materials and engaging audiences with climate issues. However, the research also highlighted common challenges, including limited resources, a lack of shared tools, and the need for greater collaboration across the sector.
Culture & Climate Cymru has been created to respond directly to these needs. By providing access to practical guidance, case studies and opportunities to connect, the initiative will support organisations at every stage of their climate journey.
Alongside online resources, the programme will host events, workshops and a national forum — creating space for organisations to share knowledge, learn from each other and build partnerships.
As Wales continues to respond to the climate emergency, the cultural sector has a vital role to play. Through creativity, storytelling and community engagement, it can help inspire change and imagine new, more sustainable futures.
Culture & Climate Cymru invites organisations and individuals from across the sector to get involved, join the conversation, and be part of a growing movement for climate action.
